In my series of interviews with wedding suppliers, this time I’m interviewing Heather of La Vie D’amour. I met Heather at a recent wedding fair and I was struck by her friendly personality and of course the gorgeous wedding dresses she had on display!
Heather, what has brought you to the wedding dress business?
I have always been interested in the wedding business, mainly from making gowns myself. This all stopped when I had a family and years went by without having the time to carry on with this venture. In later years, when the family had gown up, I took a full time job as a Care Manager which I became dedicated to. During this time, I never forgot the urge to get back into the wedding industry and decided to take the bull by the horns and open my own little boutique at home which has now been running for a few months.
How did you choose which suppliers’ dresses you wanted to have in your boutique?
Before opening my boutique, I spent many weeks surfing the net to find suitable designers to supply the gowns. After eliminating many suppliers, I found the perfect one. They had beautiful dresses, very genuine people who have helped me overcome any problems starting up a new business. They have given me the support and help needed regarding sourcing other suppliers including veil and accessory suppliers. I am also very lucky to have a designer on board who makes beautiful bespoke tiaras. I have chosen what I feel the bride wants: quality at affordable prices.
What can brides expect as a service when they come to La Vie D’amour?
When brides visit my boutique they can expect nothing less than first class service. They are given as much time as it takes to choose their special gown. I give them undivided attention by inviting them on a one to one basis. Unhurried personal service, advise on type of gown I feel would enhance their figure and advice on certain materials, e.g. suitable materials for a destination wedding etc. Brides can expect a very friendly approach from someone that’s had experience in this field and can offer advice and help where needed.
Apart from the gorgeous wedding dresses, what else can you provide for the brides?
La Vie D’amour can offer beautiful quality wedding gowns at very reasonable prices. We work from home therefore giving the bride a made to measure gown without the expensive price tag. We offer accessories and a bespoke tiara service using the best crystals to enhance the whole look a bride is looking for on her special day. We also offer a fitting service on the day of the wedding to take the strain away from a family member, leaving the bride and relatives to enjoy every minute without any stress involved making the bride and gown look nothing less than perfect.
Do you have any tips for brides on how to go about choosing a wedding dress?
I have one tip for any bride looking for that all important gown “It’s like a man – when you fall in love, it’s time to stop looking”.
